Notes on event

At 11.50 hours on 11 Sep 1942, U-96 tried to stop the three-masted schooner Delães by three shots across her bow and then shelled and sank the vessel when it did not stop. The neutral ship was sunk because no neutrality markings were seen from 200 meters, it steered suspicious courses close to convoy ON-127 and the Germans believed to hear Asdic signals from the vessel.
