Notes on event | At 09.38 hours on 1 Oct 1942 the unescorted Empire Tennyson (Master Alfred Ernest Wright) was torpedoed and sunk by U-175 southeast of Trinidad. The U-boat erroneously reported the ship as Tennessee. The master and three crew members were lost. 30 crew members and six gunners were picked up by the American gunboat USS PG-58 and landed at Port of Spain, Trinidad. | ||
