Notes on event | On 18 May 1943, U-414 attacked convoy KMS-14 (combined with UGS-8) northeast of Mostaganem, Algeria, damaged the Fort Anne and sank the Empire Eve. The master, 55 crew members, 12 gunners and 13 RAF personnel from the Empire Eve (Master Lawrence Zebedee Weatherill) were picked up by the British boom defence ship HMS Barfoil (Z 194) (Lt G.F. Williams) and a LCT and landed at Algiers. Five crew members were lost. | ||
