Notes on event

At 05.44 and 05.47 hours on 11 October 1943, U-616 fired two Gnats at a group of three landing craft and observed one detonation after 1 minute 42 seconds on the last vessel. After 9 minutes 33 seconds another detonation and sinking noises were heard, but this was probably an end-of-run detonation. It is not clear if HMS LCT-553 or HMS LCT-618 was sunk in this attack.
