Notes on event

Between 00.28 and 00.40 hours on 18 August 1944 U-307 shelled the Lennox (approx. 50 tons and armed with one .50cal gun) by 37mm and 20mm gunfire during Operation Schneehuhn. The vessel sank near Cape Morton in the Van Mijenfjord on Spitsbergen.
