At 11.36 hours on 17 October 1944 U-1165 observed a hit with a Gnat on a coastal minesweeper that exploded and sank in the Gulf of Finland. This vessel must have been the BMO-512 which was reported sunk after hitting a mine northwest of Suurupi while en route to Tallinn.
