At 21.33 hours on 10 Oct 1940 the abandoned Graigwen (Master Daniel Wright Fowle) was sunk by a coup de grâce by U-123. Seven crew members were lost. The master, 25 crew members and one gunner were picked up by the HMS Enchantress (L 56) (Cdr A.K. Scott-Moncrieff) and landed at Londonderry.
