USS Bush (Cdr. Rollin Everton Westholm, USN) was sunk after being hit by three Japanese kamikaze aircraft north-west of Okinawa in position 27º16'N, 127º48'E.
87 of her crew were lost with the ship. Also the commander of DesDiv 48 (Cdr. James Sturgis Willis, USN) was killed aboard USS Bush.
