USS Zellars is damaged by a Japanese kamikaze aircraft of Okinawa in position 26°00'N, 128°00'E. Zellars limped into Kerama Retto with extensive damage later that day.

USS Zellars puts into Long Beach Naval Shipyard for permanent repairs.
