Rys means lynx in Polish.

Rys was interned in Sweden on 17 September 1939 after she had patrolled in the Baltic.
She was returned to Poland after the war.
Decommissioned in 1955.
Scrapped in 1956.

2 Sep 1939
Rys was detected and attacked by German aircraft and surface vessels. In all they dropped 26 depth charges. (1)

3 Sep 1939
Rys received and executed an order to set a mine barrier (20 mines) 10 miles east from the tip of Hel Peninsula.

At night Rys was encircled by German minesweepers and submarine chasers and forced to dive. After few failed attempts of breaking out, Rys surfaced and attacked the surprised German crews by gunfire causing lot of confusion. She then escaped the area at full speed. (1)

4 Sep 1939
Rys was attacked by German aircraft. The depth charges they dropped caused some damage, including a fuel leak. At night the submarine entered the Hela harbour for repairs. (1)

18 Sep 1939
Rys entered Swedish coastal waters near the port of Stavn?s and was confined for the duration of the war. (1)
