Pressure

If I remember the numbers correctly, 1 atmosphere of pressure is about equal to 10 meters of depth, therefore, a pressure tank designed for 250 atmospheres would be able to take a dive to 2,500 meters with no problem. The bottom line is that the air pressure tanks are at least 10 times stronger than the U-boat hull.
