U Boat Electro Engine

Hello everyone,

I found this site by searching u boats, and do not know much about them.
I am however a gearhead, and on a recent Journey I came across something very interesting. I found a giant "generator" or at least thats what it looked like.

After some poking and prodding, I was told that it was an electro-engine from a German U-Boat. I have no idea if this is a spectacular find in the wold of U boats, but It is a treasure for me. I took three pics, and here are the url's
