Technology and Operations
So far I've been able to figure out it was built by
The Corporation for Electrical Industry Vorm, Franz, Pichler?, and Co. I
believe "ELIN" is either a model designation or a functional description
(Electro-Locomotive INline?) Wien-Weiz I'm stil working on, I believe it's
a city, factory or other place of manufacture. (Austria?)
Some of the figures on the second plate - KVA (kilovolt Ampere) - 500, Cycles - 50hz ( That's European origin), Volts 400/231 Ampere-700. The rest I'm working on. It's 3 phase too, so that's an AC generator. I think that rules out a diesel
submarine. I'm guessing it's some sort of primary or secondary generator
used to power either a locomotive or provide a backup source of power for
either a small shore-based or marine-based installation.
