Ring valve snorkels

According Rössler, U-57 and U-58 (type II C) were the first ring valve snorkel U-boats tested in August 1943. The first type VII C with a ring valve was U-236 in Sept. 1943. U-237 and U-235 were added that October. After this he does not distinguish between ring and ball valves, but only talks about snorkels. Looks like the record are not all that precise. However, most of them were ball valve.

BTW, U-637 is not mentioned at all, but he only lists U-boat numbers until May 31, 1944. They were U-57, 58, 107, 180, 195, 235, 236, 237, 243, 247, 264, 269, 275, 477, 480, 490, 530, 543, 547, 575, 642, 667, 671, 678, 715, 719, 743, 767, 859, 862, 867, 953, 971, 978, 984, 988, 998, 1019, 1020, 1021, 1022, 1051, 1053, 1054, 1191 and 1222, however, this list may not be complete. The snorkels installed afterwards are not listed in detail.
