This complicates things wonderfully - the lathe could have come from any of these big boats because I don't know when Allyn Vine made his postwar surveys or which boats were the subject of his investigation. No doubt some extremely elderly German gent who worked in procurement at Germaniawerft or similar would be necessary to advance the state of my inquiry. Oh well. It's an interesting old piece of machinery. Thank you.
