Dear Kevin:
Have you read "DYNAMITE FOR HIRE: The story of Hein Fehler" by:
A.V. Sellwood - 1956?
WWII Fleet boats sported an engine lathe (12"?) back in the Maneuvering Room.
a bench grinder and bench-mounted drilll press (1/2" cap. chuck) in the pump room, and at least two 1/2" capacity portable electric drill motors, with hi-speed twist drills up to 1" diameter with their shanks turned down to 1/2" diameter. A pneumatic Chisel and pneumatic scalers were part of my inventory also.
Later,
BUBBLEHEAD BOB
