J.T. Sounds like you have the ballpark answer. This was a great question. Something I never thought about in my quest for knowledge on U-Boats. I looked in the book "Anatomy of the Ship-The Type VII" and could not find any detailed drawings they only call the area of shaft exit the Propeller shaft housing and water tight gland. This sounds like a good question for RB or one of the model experts who look a real time line drawings of these boats...........In any case maybe we can get the answer soon.
