My info is ny a round about way.I have info on US periscopes and that the US navy asked for tenders for periscopes for their subs during the 30's from a number of companys Barr&Stroud etc.One of the companies was a Dutch company which was ownerd by Zeiss and as past of the tender the US Navy specified that the Periscopes have stadimetric ranging as standard feature.I don't have the info in front of me now as i'm sunning myself on a beach in the south of Spain at the moment but when i get back home i'll check my info more throughly.

BTW i thought all periscopes (attack ones anyway) would have been fitted with stadimetric ranging systems by WW2...how was the skipper to estimate target range otherwise during a submerged attack?
