Charla:
Direct Current vacuum (valves) tubes.......
The U.S. Navy's MK 14 torpedo used a MK 6 contact/magnetic-influence exploder
mechanism in its warhead. The electrical circuit was powered by an impeller-driven
DC generator, to charge an 8mfd capacitor whose discharge set off the detonator
whenever the magnetic influence of the target was high enough to remove the
control voltage on the thyratron's grid. The Thyratron merely acted as a switch or trigger.
Submarine battery-powered Dynamotors were used for radio transmitters and receivers.
