"What jumps out at me from Bendert though is that UC 38 laid mines off Trapani on March 26!"
Which leaves open the possibility of a mine accounting for Filicudi, though the Italian Navy is adamant she was torpedoed - but we have plenty of such claims with no basis in fact,
