A correction: U 153 and U 154 were both armed with 150mm guns.
U 153's KTB describes the circumstances of the capture. With the Q-ship afire, U 153 sailed up to the largest of the life boats, which held 7 British, two of which were badly wounded, and some 15 African crewman. One of the Brits indicates that he's an officer. U 154 also then sails up and indicates that she has dead and wounded and can use mmedical assistance (one of the 150mm shells exploded on deck, killing 8 and wounding five). U 153 transfers its doctor over via the lifeboat. Presumably U 154 took the officer prisoner at this time.
U 153 then sinks Bombala with a torpedo.
U 153 and U 154 meet up several more times. In one of these meetings, U 154 relays information learned from the captured officer.
Maryann - did you get my e-mail?
Best wishes,
Michael
