David, It is heartening to have the file number of the official account. I'm very grateful and will be following that up, hoping that some further details may come to light. Of course, my questions are, given that we believe Bernhard was picked up approx. an hour after the sinking - Was he picked up by the Master's boat - in which case we will never know what happened to him - or was he picked up by the other? Was he one of the 11 who drank sea-water or was he one of the 14 who made land only to die shortly after. Were the bodies of the 11 buried at sea and what happened to the bodies of the 12 who made land but perished? If only we could find some small patch of sea or land to honour. By the way, do you have any idea of the capacity of the lifeboat? Thankyou again.
