Good question for which there is no real answer.
ESPANA is a missing vessel. I'm doing this by memory, but a postwar book by (IIRC) U 139's LI lists ESPANA as among the ships sunk U 139.
U 139's KTB proper was destroyed. However, there is a list of ship sunk by U 139. ESPANA is NOT on it.
Make of that what you will.
