Chris and Oliver, thank you so much for all this information! Chris, your book looks very interesting.


Von Voigt's ilness is a really good example of how the flu epidemic of 1918 interfered with naval and military operations.

Just two more questions, if you please:

1) Do you know why it proved impossible to repair the defects of U 47 in such a long time? The boat was out of action from June 1917 to October 1918!


2) What were the dates and positions of U 35's two unsuccesful torpedo attacks on the voyage from Mediterranean to Kiel? Are the target ships known(name, type)?
