The grooves there were inch or metric?
In Russia only groove for water pipes from Czar times has the inch standard. All measuring devices, all machine tools, in other words all industrial standards very differ from American.
For this reason frequently it is easier to create two new devices, than to copy one American.Certainly the customer may have strange desire.
In Moscow there are a lot of signboards in English. It testifies to low culture of some owners instead of that Russian are not able to read in Russian.
