<HTML>I saw that cap also and I would not spend a dime on it , post war issue or just a plain fake with false ink stamps . A good indication of a fake is it's mint like new condition , everything ages even if not used . If it looks and smells new that is because it is !! The stamp ink from the manufacturer looks exactly the same as the u-boat number stamp , why ? the maker did not know which boat it was going to this would be done later after issue and in general done by the crew . The correct cap should be made from oilskin and could be black ( pre-war / very early war ) or most common a grey green color .</HTML>
