<HTML>Hi Antonio,
I do not know the number. It is a type 7c with atlantic bow and the 8.8cm removed, but it's tower has not yet been extended with a lower wintergarden.
The vessel sharing the floating dock is a destroyer of the 1934 or 1936 class [likely] or a prewar Torpedoboot (small destroyer escort=DE) of the bird or wild cat class. The lack of additional small flak on the aft superstructure leads me to believe that the photo was taken during 1941/42. Where? No idea. Do not recognize the skyline, except think that St. Nazaire had similar cranes (curved jib-boom) on the quay as the one shown.
Same pic appears in J.P.Mallmann-Showell's without attribution in his somewhat sloppily researched book "U-Boats in Camera".
