According to radio opr. of a Type IXc, I talked to last summer, it was both with switch at desk in radio room. He was the same guy, who put up that automatic weather station in Labrador. I do not know much abt. radios, was barely qualified to operate the SSB and VHF on my boats. Rgds, RB</HTML>
