Seeing your translation of the German tekst in the other E-mail I knew immidiately that you have German roots. Since I know that some older people, who endured WW II, still have a grudge against German people there was a chance you could be offended, not knowing you are actual a German living in America. I try to be as careful as possible in my comments on the net. I bless myself that the old crew of U-953 have taken me into there company. During the time a was constructing the modell of there boot, reading whatever documentation I could get about U-boote, the men of the former U-bootwaffe rose in my esteem and I have great respect for what they accomplished under the circomstances the lived in. I'm Dutch and there are still a lot of elderly Dutch people who bare a grudge against Germans, even after 60 years. I was not born till after the war so I try to be as neutral and objective as possible. Bad things happened in those days and since there is no way to see with whom you are communicating on the net I
didn't want the person I was communicating with to be offended hence the remark.
Rest asure, my German is perfect, and I'm proud of beeing a "Freund" of the crew of U-953.
