<HTML>It seems that the sound of metal on metal would easily be picked up by sonar but china wouldn\'t. In addition, China is easier to clean (In my opinion) and it is difficult to serve something in close quarters on a metal tray which could burn people.

Hello,
I know this is a bit off topic, but it would seem that something more durable than china (stamped tin, perhaps?) would have been better suited to the extreme conditions on a u-boat.
Thanks,
