<HTML>Hello,
What I found interesting in Suhren's dictated memoirs (Nasses Eichenlaub) was the fact that the Allies posted a list of 'most famous' U-Boat skippers and their whereabouts and decorations; furthermore, it seems to have been a list regularly updated.
As for Otto Kretschmer, the funeral was so perfectly a family affair that Frau Dr. Kretschmer didn't even post a death notice (for fear of attracting any nutcases?) altough as a retired officer of the Bundesmarine and a Knight's Cross holder he had a right to a public funeral with all due honours. Perhaps his adopted son may come across this thread and shed some light on this issue.
Best Regards
