It is little over two adrenalin-pumping weeks since I discovered that my grandfather's ship had been sunk by the U-505. In that time, I have amassed a mountain of material - more than I would ever have thought possible. I guess I am particularly lucky in that both my grandfather and the U-505 survived the war and that many before me have extensively researched and written about this U-boat.
On behalf of my father, his sister and myself, a huge thank you to those who answered my questions in this thread and those who contacted me directly by email. It would have taken us months or years to get this far alone!
Kindest regards,
David Anderson
