Actually, "my" U 35 was scuttled by its own crew after being brought to the surface by depth charges from HMS KINGSTON.
An earlier depth charging by HMS ICARUS was a feigned attack, since HMS ICARUS' ASDIC was out of commission. HMS ICARUS left the scene as HMS KINGSTON and HMS KASHMIR entered; both ships picked up the U 35 crewmembers.
The famour WW1 U 35 (or SM U 35) was a different ship, as Dan indicated. In 1934, Germany started a new U-Boat building program, assigning numbers beginning with U 1.
