Well, I wasn't passing judgement on the book, ''Boarding Party.'' I have never read it, and only commented that I wasn't quite interested enough in this episode to purchase a book about it.

Professor Rohwer's data on the three ships was interesting. The 3 merchants were interned in Sep/Oct 1939, and were eventually scuttled in Mar 1943. Listed as scuttled, but had they actually come under British attack? I can imagine that after years of internment, the German sailors there may have easily come to let their guard down. But had the Germans also been radioing local British shipping data to U-boats in the area?

Apparently the British leader of the raid and several surviving German sailors assisted with the making of the motion picture, ''Seawolves''...but I still wonder how much fact and how much fiction it contained.

Thanks for everyone's help on this.

Regards, Craig
