J.T. was only speculating that KTBs might be available on a DVD as jpegs as other types of documents are starting to be available in that format. We don’t have any confirmation that KTBs are available in that format yet though.
The microfilm is a pain in the butt to work with and almost any other format would be preferable as far as I am concerned.
As to where to find suitable microfilm readers you can try your local library especially if they have a family history section as American census data is available on the same type of microfilm and many American libraries have the viewers (with attached printers) for that purpose. Here in Charlotte I have sometimes had to stand in line for them though and only the main library downtown has them and that is about as inconvenient for me as possible.
