There is a picture of Werner Herrmann-- identified as the "Second Watch Officer" in Buchheim's *U-Boat War*, and I'm pretty sure that the short guy in the picture is him. I'm not entirely certain about the ID of Grade, since all the pictures of him in the same book show him bearded.

I find it interesting that Herrmann was training as a commander on a type XXI boat (U-2510) at the end of the war.
