Yes, I am remember film "Das Boot".
Clearly that the prototype IWO in novel "Das Boot" is Oblt z.S. Groth. Evidently, Groth is an intellectual. Looks after itself as the woman. Groth is a nazi if to believe Buchheim. Though I read Wolfgang Luth which spoke, that the officer should be irreproachable and set an example. Probably such were Groth as officer.
