Many thanks for your response.
I am confident that there is some element of truth in this folk memory. I have contacted the police officer stationed in Durness during the war years and he is adamant that he handled some of the offending communications equipment. But a blanket of secrecy descended once it was transferred from the safekeeping of the civil authorities to the military.
Thanks for the book lead. I will track down a copy and verify. (Unless a member has a copy and is willing to search for any reference to Cape Wrath or Sutherland and post the results).
