Hi JD,
I'm sorry but I for one won't be able to meet you and your father in Germany. - Just wish I could, and meet you and some of the other interesting guys who post here....
I am not sure whether this is allowed on the forum , but, I was just thinking whether anybody on the forum living near or otherwise would be up for a dinner night out in Hamburg? - it is just myself and my old man - I am a U Boat fanatic and my Dad has a sincere biographical interest in the career of Hasso von Manteuffel, and he is extremely sociable, and it won't be a boring night either - we are Irish after all - I have never been to Germany before and I don't know anybody there - Jan (and Volker!) on the forum kindly sent me a host of delicious looking restaurants so if I picked out one maybe on 23rd March - would anyone care to join us in a bit of "craic"" (Gaelic word for good night out!) ?! And then, after, we might, perhaps, be solemnly obliged to go to the Finnegan's Wake Pub....???!!
Yes and talk about U-boats, U-boats, U-boats & errrrr panzer commanders !!!

Anyway, I sincerely hope you both enjoy your trip to Germany and will keep us informed.
Safe journey & God speed

PS Don't fly fish for trout......lay on the river bank, slip your hand into the water and tickle them (they like that) until you can grab one and haul it out then cook it over an open fire
