This is a p.m. I sent to Volker and admin with pictures. Was really sorry to hear that Hans Georg Hess passed away a couple of days after I visited his ship. Anyway had a great time, thanks to everyone on the forum, and if anyone wants the pics send me a pm.

Dear Volker
As You know a couple of weeks ago I spent a week in Hamburg with my Dad for the sole purpose of visiting the last remaining type VIIC u-boat in Europe outside Kiel in Laboe. Typically, and after a life long ambition, my digital camera kept giving me trouble and these are the clearest pictures of which I have from these. I had a cheap throw away camera so I got techicnical better shots of the interior with that i.e of the control room and plane controls, and similarly with my Dad who I forced into using up his whole roll of film into as much technical data as I could manage. I will post you on the developed pictures shortly.
I had an excellent time in Hamburg and Kiel and after I came home I went to Paris for a few weeks. I want to thank yourself and everyone on this forum who provided me with information, including Jan Niemeier who provided me with a list of first class restaurants in Hamburg I think all of which we managed to visit - the Parlament restaurant was particularly impressive. I have to say that Hamburg is such a beautiful city, and the people are incredibly nice, laid-back and helpful. We even got to the Finnegan's Wake pub, although I think it was still recovering from St. Patricks's day.
I don't have Jan's e-mail address, and if you do perhaps have same would you mind conveying my personal thanks to him. Just got a new lap top two days ago and I am still fiddling around with it trying to transfer passwords, e-mails etc., because last one I had gave up the ghost the day before I went to Germany
Kind regards,
JD
