Hi
I am at present in Bordeaux, and have been to see the U-boat pens. The building is complete and the guide books to the area say that is used as an Art gallery and is open and free. However when I arrived I was told that you can only go in when there is a exhibition of art to see and currently there isn't. I had a French speaker with me who tried to wheedle us in but no go.
I took some pics of the outside, the doors, and what I could see of the inside from outside and I will post these next week, when I am home, if anyone would like. The building has been used as an engineering workshop / may still be, but I could not get access. The one dock I could see through the door had a barge in and was full of floating rubbish.
The building is complete and impressive from the outside. I don't think they know how big a tourist attraction they are failing to make use of.
