Hi Don

I have KIAMATA listed as being extensively damaged on stem and plating in a collision in the harbour of Halifax on 10 March 1941, while she was en route from Manchester to New York. This date is also confirmed by photos I found doing an internet search, showing the damaged stem of KIAMATA and were taken in Halifax on 14 March 1941:

Unfortunately I don't have more details about the collision, but this damage seems completely unrelated to U-boats to me. It is quite possible that this fast ship was unsuccessfully shelled by a U-boat on her North Atlantic passage, but without date or position of the attack it is very hard to identify her attacker.
