Rainer,
I have a request in to the New Zealand Shipping Company for the log pages no luck yet.

Question - If a ship is holed below the waterline and has a smashed in the bow how long would it take a ship to travel at 10 knots from 60 degree N 19 degrees W to Halifax, Nova Scotia?????

by straight course and using a zigzag pattern course??????

The excessive weight of water on the bow compartment would have slowed the ship down and the maneuvering would have a slower response to the Masters commands.

The timing of the incident was in the early evening of the 7th March 1941

By the way the pictures of the Kaimata in Halifax Harbour 14/3/1941 show that a heavy impact took place.

The Kaimata returned to duty late May 1941 after the whole bow was cut off and a new one put on at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. 31st March to late May 1941. Would they keep records of repairs to ships during the war???
