Admiralty suspected in the 1950s that the CH series had borne fruit. Bob Coppock of the Naval Historical Branch was certainly aware of at least one mined Type VIIc off Padstow in 1989. These individual wrecks may have been identified by Dr Niestle but despite the portrayals of documentaries, their presence has been known for some time.
