No, its not on the outside of the hat, its on the inside of the hat, between the inner lining and outside layers. it comes up just behind the crockade from the rim and sticks stright up, I pulled one out of another crappier made hat, and its a thin metal strip of some type. my question is, is this thing an accurate part of that? did the real origional hats have this thing? I got all confused after looking at the captians hat in das boot, where it is all crushed and rinked and flattish, and even in some historical pictures I see the same thing, I am wondering if its maybe something the modern makers put in for some reason.
does anyone know what i'm talking about? lol, its really eating at me :P
