This is the forum for Movie and Film discussions. Again, our topic is naval warfare in WWII for the most part.

<HTML>The real U-571 was lost with all hands? Well, isn\'t that perfect. . . Now I get it. Whereas history tells us that the U-571 was lost, that is probably based on German records, but the Germans didn\'t find out what happened to the U-571, now did they? I mean, didn\'t you see the end of the movie? So, the Americans actually did get an Enigma machine, but, not wanting to give away their operational methods (Would you want the word to get out if your intelligence boys worked the way portrayed in the movie?), everything was hushed up; the mission never happened, and the German records were allowed to stand. This clears everything up.
I\'ll now remove my tongue from my cheek, cease dangling my disbelief, and ask Hollywood to tell the real stories when it can\'t think up anything better. Anybody care for a movie about the \"Titanic?\"
