<HTML>Hello Peter,
Ok, you asked for it:
1. Hirschfeld: The Story of a U-Boat NCO by Wolfgang Hirschfeld - a must read, excellent book. Two thumbs up says Eno, noted literary critic!
2. Battle Beneath the Waves by Robert Stern. Very good book, informative and readable
3. U-Boat by Lothar Gunther Buchheim - an excellent novel. Interesting, captivating, entertaining, informative. If you saw and liked the movie, you will like the book even more. Two thumbs up.
4. U-Boat War by Harald Busch (sp?). - very informative book with an appendix containing a very interesting lecture by Wolfgang Luth.
5. Anything by Jak P. Malmann Showell - Mr. Showell, in my opinion, is THE last word on U-Boats. His books are well-researched, interesting and informative.
6. The Enemy Below by D.A. Rayner. A taut fictional thriller about an isolated battel between a lone U-Boat and a British Destroyer. Another two thumbs up by Eno.
That should keep ya busy old salt.
Cheers,
Robert Eno
