<HTML>Miller's "U-Boats" has a cutaway diagram of a Typ VII, with the tanks labeled. It shows something called a "forward stabilization tank," which from its location would appear to be equivalent to the bow buoyancy tank. I can't say that there's anything obviously equivalent to the safety tank, though. There are what the diagram labels "diving tanks" at the extreme ends of the boat, with trim tanks just inboard of them. Nothing labeled "negative" or "Q" on the diagram. It's not the best, though. I suppose the only way to be sure is to find a set of prints or a qualifications manual, or send someone to Laboe and pay real close attention.
As I recall, the U-505 curator pops in here as well, and could possibly answer this for the IXD.
