<HTML>The negative tanks where saddle tanks, so one on each side of the boat. They where situated a couple of meters in front of the uboats centre and thus gives a little aid to turn the boat down when diving, not much though.

The forward, main and aft diving tanks where blown with high pressure air. The four saddle tanks (the negative and regulating tanks where also saddle tanks so there where actually eight saddle tanks). Anyway the four main saddle tanks could be blown with high pressure, low pressure or diesel exhausts, so I guess the negative tank had the same options.
