<HTML>hi Einsamer Wolf
the 'initiation' they are referring to in this exchange is the opening 'Sprengwagen' incident, where some of the crew form a drunken honour guard/ car wash.
When the rather prim & proper IWO complains of being 'molested' (belästigt) he is using the word more in the sense of being accosted or affronted than a physical assault on his person, or of 'molestation' in the way some individuals find lewd jokes or pornographic pictures personally harassing in the workplace.
the captain attempts to soothe his sense of insult and 'monstrous outrage' by shrugging it off and telling him the same thing happened to him too - if his commanding officer is prepared to overlook the matter the IWO can hardly take it further.
hope this clarifies
